2nd International Conference on Sustainable Chemistry towards Net Zero (ICSC-NZ) 2027
Zaragoza, Spain
September 6th-9th 2027
Welcome Message
It gives us great pleasure to invite you to the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Chemistry towards Net Zero (ICSC-NZ), being held in Zaragoza (Spain) September 6th-9th 2027.
This is the second edition of this conference and follows on from the successful inaugural edition in 2025 (St. Andrews, Scotland), which gathered researchers and stakeholders interested in the role of chemistry in sustainability on a global level. The success of the first edition is the result of the growing scientific community interest to balance environmental protection and human health with industry and academic innovation.
Inspired by the Stockholm Declaration on Chemistry for the Future, we recognize the breadth of important topics it encompasses. Therefore, we have identified several key challenges to address in this edition of the conference, including Clean Energy Solutions, Plastic bio-design and recycling, Fluorinated replacements, Green synthesis and CO2 capture chemistry.
Zaragoza is an ancient city with a Roman origin (more than 2000 years) and rich history, easily accessible from the main cities of Madrid and Barcelona by high-speed train, where as well as the scientific conference you can enjoy local cuisine including tapas bars and sightseeing.
We are curating a diverse plenary and invited speakers’ agenda including Prof Maria Forsyth (Australia), Prof. Jorge Gascon (Saud Arabia), Prof. Doug McFarlane (Australia), and Prof. Auxi Prieto (Spain) with further speakers being confirmed in the coming months.
Save the date in your calendars and be aware for updates on this website and social media, we look forward to welcoming you in Zaragoza in 2027.

Located at the headquarters of Fundación Ibercaja in the heart of Zaragoza, is one of the finest examples of Aragonese Renaissance architecture. It was dismantled and transported to Paris, where it remained for more than fifty years. In 1958, the banking institution successfully recovered the courtyard and returned it to Zaragoza. Since 1980, it has been open to visitors at its current location, where it has become a landmark of the city's historical and artistic heritage.
